Using a FAQ Webpart
Note: An FAQ web part is simple, but limited.
1
This is a long and involved FAQ word document. You can
download it here
if you want to follow along exactly.
2
First click Add a Web Part. (You need to be logged in to get this option.)
3
Select FAQ
4
Notice it says FAQ in blue. Will change that later. First lets just start adding questions and answers.
5
Click Add Question
6
Here we copy from the word document. (we do not want the Q: since the FAQ module will provide us that. )
7
Copy and paste the question separetly from the answer
8
For Both Question and Answer. You right click and selecting paste.
9
The FAQ module does not offer any formatting ability. Here i paste in a bulleted list. It will allow bullets but not hyperlinks
10
This really important. You can add several Q&A's but if you do not save you will have to start all over. You do not need to save each question. Just save at the end.
11
Now we want to change the webpart default settings so we will click Edit Web Part
12
I can see the items i can change. I changed the blue header text from FAQ to Questions and Answers. I also have added the word "Answers" to the text Show All. It will now read Show All Answers
13
Click OK
14
Hyperlinks will not work in questions and answers. So one work around would be to end the Q&A module. Add a content module for the Hyperlinks and then create another Q&A webpart which will finish the rest of the questions. This is not ideal, since the links are not in the collapsible part of the answer. But its easy to do and gets the job done. There are some complicated ways around this by using a content editor to work and act like the FAQ webpart. But you must use and know HTML to do it. for now we will do it the easy way.
15
Always remember to save your questions.
16
Click add a webpart and create a new content module and a new FAQ webpart module. so you have what you see below.
17
I will paste the hyperlinks into the content editor. the browser will ask if i want to allow access. Always allow
18
I paste the hyperlinks from word, but here is to much space inbetween. So i just delete the empty space.
19
This looks better. I save the links
20
Then i click and drag the content editor inbetween the two FAQ webpart modules.
21
if you haven't already added a new faq Web Part Moduel. Click Add a Web Part
22
Click FAQ
23
Click the menu button and then Edit web part. W
24
we need to get rid of the Blue FAQ header text. Select the text FAQ and delete.
25
I will also delte the no questions are currently availiable. Since i am now using two faq web parts.
26
click ok
27
Now i will continue on adding question and Answers. Click Edit Questions
28
click add question
29
Always remember to save your questions
30
Below you can see the first FAQ followed by the hyperlinks in the Content Editor then followed by a second FAQ module.
